Weekend Wrap Up.
O.K., so I know I haven’t blogged in a while but if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter then you know why. I’ve been extremely busy producing the America’s Next Top Model Season Premier Fashion Show for MAC Viva Glam as well as our weekly F.I.N-i-To Monday fashion industry party at STIR Lounge. Now that I’ve gotten everything back under control, I hope to continue with blogging on a more regular basis.
So, let’s jump right in to it.
FRIDAY:

Friday was a full social calendar; I started with dinner and libations at LIMA Restaurant & Lounge with a friend Lethan. After devouring the empanadas (one of my favorite plates there) I fleeced over to my second home, Donovan House for the Fashion BS Radio Station Launch Party. Can I just tell you all, it was absolutely fabulous. The party was one of the most flattering events I’ve attended this year. No to toot my own horn but apparently I am making waves in DC’s fashion & style, media, event productions community. I was supper shocked when these executive directors, fashion editors/directors, event producers/managers of these national organizations knew who I was. These industry A-listers approached me and knew what projected I’ve worked on, articles I’ve written and events I’ve produced. I was both floored at very flattered. After making a few rounds and throwing back a few libations, it was time to hit it to my destination.

We walked up the street to Halo Lounge for the greatest martinis. After about 2 martinis I was soo over Halo. I made plans to meet my boi Jeff back over at Donovan House. The party got even better when I arrived for the second time. One of my favorite DJ and our resident DJ for our FINITO Monday party, DJ NEEKOLA had the party in full swing. Are more libations, networking & great conversation, we decided to I hit it to another one of my favorite nightlife spots, L2 in Georgetown. L2 is a members-only lounge off the beating path in Gtown. If you don’t know about it; then, you don’t know about it. Because we were hanging with DC nightlife newbies I called L2 to notify them of my arrival with guests. With the words “Not a problem Mr. Cromwell, we’ll put you + 3 guests on the list for this evening. We’re looking forward to seeing you again” the plan was in motion. Before we hit L2 we decided to stop pass Fly Lounge. A two step and a drink and we were back out the door on our way to L2.
L2 is always on a poppin. For some reason the crowd was a little light but the music and libations were not a let down. We finished our drinks and decided to fleece back over to Fly Lounge. After more two-stepping and libations I hit it from Fly Lounge and was on my way to an after party. Music & libations and a few minutes and it was time to call it a night. Oh, what I night…
SATURDAY
Saturday was a quite night…recuperated all day/night.
SUNDAYSunday was an early start at EFN Lounge for an early libations and the HIP HOP Sunday Party. Then there was dinner in Dupont Circle and the Trap (Fireplace) to meet friends for early libations. I fleeced over to Eyebar for Sugafree Sundays at about Midnight. The party was HOT as always. The beats were on fire and the drinks were on point. I haven’t been to Sugafree Sundays in about 3 months and boy did we have a FAB time. We fleeced from Eyebar at 1:45 am and I hit to a Bday After Party for a friends Bday. After politics & relationship discussions and a nightcap it was time to call it a night.
MONDAY:Monday was Episode 2 of our FINITO Monday fashion industry party at STIR Lounge. While the party was better attended than the previous week the pickings were still slim. Thanks everyone for coming out to support us. I made a decision to close the doors at 10:00 PM and fleeced over to Lima for the Latin Monday night party.
We arrived at Lima to meet up with the group from FINITO Mondays and partied. Miss Renee Christine-Hill designer for Renee France Designs tore the dance floor up. After about 2 hours, it was time to hit to our 3rd venue of the evening; Fly Lounge. As we were on our way out, Prince of DC, Raymond Lee came to meet up with me at Lima. We arrived at Fly Lounge at about 12ish then the drama started. Now, you guys know I keep it real so here were go. Raymond, you know you’re my boi but I was left with a potential $500.00 bar tab because you and your guest fleeced out of Fly to go to the bank and never returned.

So here’s the scenario: Some of the party goers from the FINITO Monday party all decided to hit it to Lima then Fly. Raymond text me when we were at Lima inquiring where I was. I told him I was at Lima and he said he would meet me there. When he arrived we were leaving. We all arrived at Fly and Raymond had on sneakers. The cost of admittance is normally $20.00 for males and free for women. Because Raymond had on sneakers he would have had to pay $40.00. I suggested that we all just get a VIP booth and pay $50.00 each since we would most likely spend $30-50 dollars in drinks individually anyway and all the males would have to pay a $20.00 entry fee. That would also alleviate all the males (at least 7 from spending the $20-40 dollar entry free). Everyone agreed and our cocktail waitress was called to escort up to our VIP booth. I handed over my ID and credit card to secure the $500.00 and instructed the server not to charge to card and that we would be paying in cash. Said she understood and asked what we wanted to start off with. I asked everyone and we decided to start off with a bottle of Moet and Vodka. When she went to get the bottles I said I wanted to collect the money before we popped anything open. Then that’s when it happened. Why do I keep putting myself in these situations, I thought? All of a sudden everyone either didn’t want do VIP or had to “got to the ATM to get cash” never returning. To make a long story short ONLY Lenard from K5 Entertainment, Renee & myself who took care of both me and the boo boo’s portion gave any money.

This situation puts be in a bind for several reasons. 1) I go to Fly Lounge to attend this Monday party 2-4 times a month. 2) I party at Fly up to 3 times a week sometimes. 3) I am very good friends with the owner and several of the staff. This situation has robed the promoter of $160.00 dollars on entry fees because everyone agreed to pay the $50.00 to meet the minimum bottle service amount therefore, the males were not charged an entry fee. Hindsight 20/20 I have a question: If no one had any cash on them, how were they going to get in to the venue? I am lucky to never have to pay an entry free for Fly Lounge but when I arrive with male friends, it’s expected that my male guest will pay.

The end result was that those (!Dream Entertainment, Lenny of K5 Ent, Renee, the boo boo and I) who stayed VIP had a FABULOUS TIME. We got the bill paid and rocked out for the rest of the night. Will I ever use my “celebrity”/influence in this kind of situation again? Chances are I DON’T THINK SO. I think everyone understands that we are all not on the same financial level but when you are deceitful for no reason at all, not only are your motives questioned but so is the honesty of your friendship. I have seen the light. See you out in D.C.’s nightlife.
STAY FABULOUS!!!
